The disciples of the Italian guests Shaolin Monks in the Temple have reached the famous Cave of the Patriarch Bodhidharma in the early morning, leaving at h.5.00, at cockcrow. Bodhidharma's Cave is situated on top of the central peak of Wuru Peak, north-west of the monastery. And 'the place where Bodhidharma, the patriarch of Chan Buddhism, meditated for nine years. It is said that the shadow of Bodhidharma it is reflected on a stone on which were printed as the folds of his clothes because of prolonged meditation. This stone is called "Shadow of Bodhidharma Stone", and is one of the relics preserved and displayed in the monastery.
The cave is 7 meters deep (about 23 feet) high and 3 meters (about 9.8 feet). Inside the cave, there are three stone statues, with Bodhidharma sat between two of his disciples, on both sides. In addition, you can see a depression of 1 meter in height and about 0.60 meters wide on the wall: it is the mark left when the shadow of Stone Bodhidharma was removed.
Outside the cave is a stone arch built in 1604 to 4 meters high and 2.2 meters wide, which is inscribed with ideograms: "Mo Chu Xuan" (the place of silent mystery). In addition, a huge statue of Bodhidharma, made ​​of blocks of marble, 12 meters high, is placed on top of the peak Wuru. In front of the white marble statue of Bodhidharma, there are two memorial inscriptions erected in 1995. 50 meters west of the great statue there is the "Pavilion Xiyuan", built in 1984.
