Another wonderful trip was the climb of Mount Songshan. The mountain is one of China's Taoist holy mountains, and contains important Taoist temples like the Temple Zhongyue. But the mountain also offers a significant Buddhist presence: And in fact it is the home of the Shaolin Temple, traditionally considered the birthplace of Chan Buddhism, stupas and collection of the largest temple in China. The Zhongyue Temple is one of the oldest Taoist temples in the country. The Songyang Academy neighbor was one of four great ancient Chinese academies. The mountain and its surroundings are filled with Taoist and Buddhist monasteries in particular. The 6 th century Songyue Pagoda is also located here, as well as the Tang Dynasty (618-907) pagodas in the temple Fawang. Eight location at the foot of the mountain in Dengfeng were considered a World Heritage Site since 2010.
