.
Worldwide, the whole Shaolin family is gathered together to pray for unknown people tragically  died  in New Zealand, China and Japan and  to pray for the survivors that maybe we never will know personally. It’s not a useless gesture because human life is the same for all.  May this time of community prayer help us to “awaken” to our true essence, helping us to discover ourselves  truly brothers and sisters of one land and one destiny of happiness. May the pain and suffering of these tragic events  help us  to become better people and able of loving and helping each other.
.
On request of our Venerable Abbot ShiYongXin, we disciples of Shaolin Temple Italy, in Milan offer this meditation for the benefit of dead people of the recent natural disasters in New Zealand, China and Japan.
This material world is suffering:  this is what  Buddha himself pointed out in his first noble truth.
  • Some suffering is caused by ourselves through the bad behavior, bad diet, negative relationships with others.
  • More suffering is caused by other living beings as social pressure, poor relationships, aggression, illnesses caused by viruses and microbes.
  • More suffering is caused by natural forces: earthquakes, famines, tsunamis
,
The cause of  all this suffering is attachment to things of this world. Consequently, the detachment from the phenomenal is the way to end the suffering.
.
Buddha gives us a  method  to learn detachment in his  fourth noble truth: the eightfold path:
1-Right understanding
2-Right intention
3-Right speech
4-Right action
5-Right livelihood
6-Right effort
7-Right mindfulness
8-Right concentration
.
In communion with the Venerable Abbot ShiYongXin, the monastic community of the Shaolin Temple and all the lay disciples and Shaolin Cultural Centers oversea, We pray for the benefit of all victims of these recent earthquakes and tsunamis so that all sentient beings may embrace the Way of Dharma.
